Lineup Shakeup: Brandon Marsh Sidelined with Finger Injury
Outfielder Brandon Marsh will miss the game after leaving Tuesday's game early with a sprained finger. Marsh told reporters after the game he would be ok and that he hyperextended the finger.
Edmundo Sosa Steps in; Schwarber Remains in Leadoff Spot
With Marsh out of the lineup, Edmundo Sosa is in left field and is hitting ninth.
Kyle Schwarber is back in the leadoff spot for the second straight day with Trea Turner, who homered on Tuesday, his sixth of the season, hitting in the No. 2 hole. Bryce Harper, who also homered on Tuesday night, is having a fine season, hitting .272 with 13 homers, 33 runs scored, and 33 RBI on the season, with Alec Bohm hitting third.
Pitching Matchup: Sánchez’s Scoreless Streak vs. Walker Buehler
Phillies ace lefty Cristopher Sánchez gets the start today and is opposed by former Phillies right-hander Walker Buehlar. Sánchez is looking to extend his 37.2 scoreless innings streak after a shutout of the Guardians in his last start, where he went eight innings, giving up just four hits, and notching six strikeouts in a no-decision.
Buehlar, who pitched briefly for the Phillies in 2025, has been disappointing with the Padres this season, posting a 5.05 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts in 46.1 innings.
First pitch is set for 4:10.
