Phillies Bring Back Catchers Marchán and Stubbs, Add Outfielder León in Roster Shuffle
The Philadelphia Phillies made a couple of roster decisions on Friday, bringing back a pair of catchers, Rafael Marchán and Garrett Stubbs.
Catchers Locked In: Marchán and Stubbs Return
Stubbs gets a split contract that will pay him $925,000 in the big leagues and $575,000 in the minors. The 32-year-old appeared in just five games with Philadelphia last season, spending 71 games at triple-A Lehigh Valley, slashing .265/.352/.402 with a .754 OPS.
Marchán played 42 games with the Phillies in 2025, making 30 starts, hitting two homers with 13 RBI while hitting .210. He has also become one of the best catchers, throwing out 10 of 38 attempted base stealers and, per Statcast, ranked in the 96th percentile with an average pop time of 1.88 seconds to second base
Waiver Claim: Outfielder Pedro León Added
They also added outfielder Pedro León off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles, spending last season in the Houston Astros minor league system, slashing .253/.314/.505 with six homers and 15 RBI.
Finally, the team tendered contracts to seven arbitration-eligible players: infielders Alec Bohm, Edmundo Sosa, and Bryson Stott, outfielder Brandon Marsh, right-hander Jhoan Duran, and left-handers Tanner Banks and Jesús Luzardo.
The deadline for these decisions was Friday at 5 p.m.
