The Phillies and Angels were talking trade for some time.  They even made a deal earlier in the day, as the Phillies sent catching prospect Logan O'Hoppe to the Angels for long-term center fielder Brandon Marsh.   But the two teams did not stop there: Noah Syndergaard is headed to the Phillies.

He was soon followed up by colleague at The Athletic, Jayson Stark, who put together the deal:

Matt Gelb chimes in that the prospect is Jadiel Sanchez.

The former first overall pick Mickey Moniak could immediately replace Marsh in the Angels outfield.  Despite hitting the cover off the ball at Triple-A, Moniak has struggled to perform in the big leagues in the playing time he has had.  He will likely get a long look in Los Angeles for the rest of the season.
