Baseball is a funny game, It’s a very humbling game, It’s a game of failure, and the Phillies are now one and a half games behind the New York Mets after losing seven of their last ten games.

Bad fielding, a lack of timely hitting, and a struggling bullpen are just some of the reasons for this lack of winning. Every Sunday, former Phillies Pitcher Tommy Greene tells me to relax, it’s a long season.  Newly acquired pitcher Jesus Luzardo got off to a great start in a Phillies uniform: In his first 11 starts in 67 innings pitched, Luzardo gave up 60 hits, surrendering only 16 runs.  But his last two starts, 5.2 innings pitched he’s given up 21 hits, 20 earned runs, and opponents are hitting .583 against him. His ERA has gone from 2.15 to 4.46. What is going on?!?

Saturday is the third leg of the Triple Crown in Horse racing.  Just five weeks after the Kentucky Derby and three weeks after the Preakness, both winners in the previous races will be facing off in the Belmont.  The 2025 Belmont is a mile and a quarter in length because the race is hosted at Saratoga with eight horses in the race. It should be an exciting race and we will hear from the Fastlanehandicapper.com Jeffrey Nash and he will preview the race Saturday Morning.

The Eagles finished their OTA’s and the next time we see the whole team together will be at mandatory Mini Camp on June 10th.  The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will cover all the Hot topics from the week in Philly Sports.

On Saturday’s show, Josh Hennig will return to studio to serve as Producer and former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dave Klemic will co-host.  We will hear from Jeffrey Nash from Fastlanehandicapper.com . Jeffrey will preview the Belmont at 10:30am.  Then Mr. Negadelphia P.J. Corda will check in with his thoughts on our Philly teams, brought to you by the Vassar Pool Service.  Finally, it’s The Beach Patrol Report brought to you by McCann Realtors in Sea Isle City and the Ocean City Beach Patrol Lifeguard alumni association. This week, John McShane will report from the OC Beach Patrol Tryouts.

On Sunday’s show, we will be broadcasting live from the Steel Pier in Atlantic City for the War at the Shore.  Power boat racing is returning to Atlantic City and we will be there for all the action.  Every Sunday during the baseball season we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies Pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s Market of Ocean City. Tommy analyzes the Phillies week and previews Sunday’s game. In Hour Two, we will hear from "The Chief”, Head Coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs and former Flyer Player Craig Berube.  It’s always good to hear from the Chief! We invite you to come out to the Atlantic City Steel Pier and hang out with us this Sunday!!

All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 97.3 FM ESPN Radio South Jersey
