Much attention has been given lately to the dismissal of Phillies manager Gabe Kapler.  Kapler is set to interview for the San Francisco Giants managerial opening, while the Phillies are set to interview three big names for their managerial post.  But one Phillies coach is getting some looks outside the organization.

Sam Fuld is getting consideration for a managerial vacancy, reports Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports:

This appears to be Fuld's first connection to a managerial job.

Fuld is a friend of Kapler.  In Kapler's introductory press conference he mentioned he was working out with Fuld that very day, tipping that Fuld would be joining the Phillies.  Fuld was the first in the Phillies organization to hold the player information coordinator at the big league level.

Should Kapler get hired in a managerial role, it would not be surprising to see Fuld follow his friend.  Or Kapler could follow Fuld, should Fuld get the Pirates managerial job and should Kapler consider a coaching position.   The two were teammates on the Tampa Bay Rays, along with Phillies player Sean Rodriguez.

Eight teams currently have managerial vacancies: the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres and the Phillies.
