Phillies Game 1 Lineup vs Padres Set

The game between the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres scheduled for Tuesday night was postponed by rain, forcing the two teams to play a split doubleheader on Tuesday.

The teams will play a day-night doubleheader at Citizens Bank Park.

Mick Abel Gets the Start in Game 1

The Phillies announced that Mick Abel will pitch the first game starting at 1:05 p.m., and Cristopher Sánchez is set to pitch the second game at 6:05 p.m.

Phillies Game 1 Lineup vs Padres

The Phillies have set their Game 1 lineup with Trea Turner leading things off.  The team is sticking with Kyle Schwarber in the No. 2 spot, followed by Bryce Harper, and with Alec Bohm getting the day off, Nick Castellanos hits No. 4.

Phillies Face Former Teammate Nick Pivetta

In Game 1, the Phillies will face right-hander Nick Pivetta, which means the team has all of their left-handed bats in the lineup today.

Pivetta, who spent four seasons with the Phillies from 2017-2020, is 8-2 with a 3.36 ERA, 1.033 WHIP in 16 games for the Padres this season.

In Game 2, the Phillies will see Dylan Cease, another right-hander.

Phillies Add Seth Johnson for Doubleheader

The Phillies have added right-handed pitcher Seth Johnson from Triple-A Lehigh Valley as the additional player for today’s doubleheader against the San Diego Padres.

Johnson, 26, has made 24 appearances (four starts) for Lehigh Valley this season and has a 4.43 ERA (21 ER, 42.2 IP) with 53 strikeouts to 26 walks.

This is his second stint with the Phillies this season.
