Aaron Nola Shines on Mound, But Locker Room Fart Steals Spotlight
The Philadelphia Phillies got a huge outing from veteran Aaron Nola on Monday night, tossing six shutout innings, striking out seven in the Phillies’ 1-0 shutout of the Mets.
It has been a rough season for Nola, who has compiled a 4-8 record with a 6.24 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP in 14 starts. Nola missed much of the season with an ankle and then a rib injury, and since his return, he hasn't given Phillies fans hope that he can fill the void left by Zack Wheeler's departure.

Wheeler will miss the rest of the season with a blood clot, bumping Cristopher Sánchez up to the No. 1 spot in the Phillies' rotation, but the team still seems unsettled on who will slot in behind him during the postseason.

Nola's last few outings have been a big topic of discussion, with many Phillies fans wondering if he will be able to help the team in the playoffs. Over his last five starts, Nola has a 6.39 ERA, 1.342 WHIP, in 25.1 innings pitched, with the long ball and early inning runs being a big issue.
Aaron Nola Finally Delivers for Phillies
However, on a night when the Phillies needed him, he showed up. Nola's start pushed the Mets to eight games behind them in the NL East race with just 18 left to play.
The Postgame Fart Heard Around the Clubhouse
While Nola was discussing his latest outing, he was interrupted by a teammate passing gas in the Phillies locker room, causing the Phillies pitcher to laugh in the middle of his answer.
Who Could the Culprit Be?
If I were to take a few guesses, I would assume it could be Garrett Stubbs. Stubbs is the chief vibes officer and is very good at keeping things light in the clubhouse. Some other guesses would be either Brandon Marsh, Weston Wilson, or maybe even newcomer Harrison Bader.
However, if I am taking a guess here, I am going with David Robertson.
Robertson is 40 and likely just doesn't care anymore, and lets it fly loud and proud. He seems like a very unassuming guy, but if you ever watch him pitch, he is very fidgety on the mound after every pitch he seems to readjust his sleeves, his slide off the mound, he just seems like a quirky guy.
