Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Phillies met with free agent outfielder B.J. Upton earlier this week.  Upton seemed to enjoy his stop in Philly, he tweeted that he is "really blown away by the love other cities are showing me right now."  He also visited the Braves and had plans to visit with the Nationals.

Many around baseball believe Upton’s right-handed bat would look good in Philadelphia’s lineup, between Chase Utley and Ryan Howard, who both hit left handed.  Meanwhile, according to CBS MLB insider Jon Heyman, Phillies president and CEO David Montgomery acknowledged the Phillies are also considering Josh Hamilton.

"I don't think there's a whole lot we're not considering," Montgomery told Heyman.

The Phillies are wide open in their search for a third baseman, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.  The club could look at multi-position types like Marco Scutaro and Jeff Keppinger as well as someone like Kevin Youkilis.

Buster Olney of ESPN has reported that the Phillies are also among the teams talking with outfielder Cody Ross, Olney reports. Ross, unlike Upton, is a free agent who's not tied to draft pick compensation, which could be attractive to the Phillies.
