Phillies Notes: Roster Taking Shape
Opening Day is just one week away from today. Accordingly, the Phillies are putting the finishing touches on their Opening Day roster. Here is a rundown of some of the recent roster moves.
Outfield
- Andrew Pullin returned to minor league camp
- The Phillies added Pedro Florimon to their 40-man roster. He will likely make the team. Florimon started in right field on Thursday and is officially listed as an outfielder, though he plays a good amount of infield
- Danny Ortiz was moved to minor league camp
Infield
- Utility player Ryan Flaherty has been released
- Elizer Alvarez, acquired in a September trade for Juan Nicaso, has been traded to the Texas Rangers for cash considerations
- Invitee Mitch Walding headed to minor league camp
- 40-man roster member Jesmuel Valentin is having a strong Spring and may make the club
Bullpen
- Right-handed pitcher Yacksel Rios was optioned to Triple-A
- Left-handed pitcher Fernando Abad was given his release
Catcher
- Logan Moore headed over to minor league camp
- Phillies are reportedly trying to gauge trade interest in Cameron Rupp, who does not appear to have a place on this Phillies roster
