Phillies Off To A Hot Start, Face Undefeated Dodgers This Weekend
The Phillies are off to a hot start but so are the Los Angeles Dodgers who come to town even hotter this weekend. The reigning World Series Champions are 8-0 and have a star-studded lineup led by Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani. The San Diego Padres are right on their tale, also undefeated at 7-0 in the National League West.
The Phillies send newly acquired Jesus Luzardo (1-0) to the mound Friday Night against Yoshinobu Yamamoto (1-0). It’s early in the 2025 season but the Phillies can take two out of three against the Dodgers before they hit the road and head to Atlanta to play the 0-7 Braves then St. Louis to play the Cardinals. The Phillies can establish themselves as a the NL East Frontrunners We will keep our eye on this series.
The NCAA tournament is down to the Final Four. My bracket is busted but the four teams left, Florida, Duke, Houston, and Auburn will fight it out to see who’s number one! Auburn takes on Florida Saturday night and Duke faces Houston, you can hear both games on 973 ESPN!
The Flyers are 3-0 since they fired Head coach John Tortorella on March 27th. The team is playing loose, and Flyers rookie sensation Matvei Michkov has scored four goals since Tortorella’s departure. Since the Flyers own three first round picks in the 2025 NHL Draft, they have plenty of options for the rebuild this offseason.
The Sixers got word that former NBA MVP Joel Embiid will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery. The Sixers have lost their last ten games and have five games left in this season plagued with injury. The tank is underway and with Tyress Maxey also being ruled out for the season, the Sixers could lose out the rest of the way to secure a top sixth pick in the 2025 NBA draft. We will cover it all this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.
