Phillies placed 3B Maikel Franco on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 12, with a non-displaced fracture on his left wrist.  To take his spot on the roster, the Phillies have recalled outfielder Aaron Altherr from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The 22-year-old rookie has enjoyed an excellent rookie season, hitting .277 with 13 home runs and 48 RBI.  He'll wear a brace for 2-3 weeks before being re-evaluated, but with just six weeks to go in the regular season, it certainly a possibility that he’ll be out the rest of the way.

Altherr, 24, batted .293 with 14 home runs, 67 RBI, and 16 stolen bases over 111 games this season between Double-and-Triple-A this season.
