One day after, he was pounded for seven runs in three innings by the Dodgers, the Phillies placed starting pitcher Zach Eflin on the 15-day disabled list with patellar tendinopathy in both knees, and recalled lefty pitcher Elvis Araujo from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Eflin, 22, owns a 5.54 ERA through 11 starts on the year, after a rough first outing, he started to turn things around, with a 2.08 ERA over his next seven starts. However, he’s struggled over his last three starts. Since July 27, he has given up 20 runs in three starts since a 4-0 shutout win over the Pirates. He joins Charlie Morton and Aaron Nola as contributors to this year’s starting rotation that have landed on the DL.

Araujo, 25, is joining Philadelphia for the third time this season, and has a 5.63 ERA in 24 innings this season at the major league level.
