Aaron Nola is one step closer to the big leagues.

Following today's 1-0 loss in Pittsburgh, the Phillies announced that they have promoted Nola to AAA Lehigh Valley.

Nola made 12 starts this season at AA Reading and was dominant. The right-hander was 7-3 with a 1.88 ERA. He also compiled 59 strikeouts 76.2 innings.

If all goes well, Nola should see his first AAA start on Thursday in Allentown.

The Phillies have been shuffling their farm system as of late with the promotion of Domonic Brown to Philadelphia, while demoting Darin Ruf to Lehigh Valley for more playing time and at bats.

The team also recently promoted top prospect JP Crawford to AA Reading after his hot start to the season.

More transactions will continue to come as the MLB trading season is expected to begin shortly.
