Prior to the Philadelphia Phillies season finale in Washington against the Nationals, they made a roster move, adding Millville High alum Buddy Kennedy.

Kennedy was working out down in Clearwater at the Phillies Spring Training complex. To make room for him on the 28-man roster, left-handed pitcher Tyler Gilbert was optioned to the spring training complex.

Kennedy has appeared in seven games with the Phillies this season, hitting .200 in 12 plate appearances this season for Philadelphia.

He came over in a trade with the Detroit Tigers and was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2017 MLB Draft.

The big question moving forward for Kennedy is, will he be on the Phillies postseason roster? The team could keep 14 position players and 12 pitchers, which would give him a shot to be on the roster.

The decision will likely come down to Kennedy, a right-handed bat, or Cal Stevenson, a left-handed bat. Kennedy is an infielder who can play second or third base.  Stevenson is an outfielder, who can play all three outfield spots.
