Philadelphia Phillies shortstop J.P. Crawford exited Saturday’s contest against the Atlanta Braves after getting hit by a pitch

Crawford was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the fifth inning for what was described as a strained right elbow. Pedro Florimon replaced Crawford at short after hitting for him in fifth inning of a 4-1 ballgame.

The Phillies later announced that Crawford was heading to the 10-day disabled list with a right forearm strain.

With Crawford out, the Phillies recalled INF Jesmuel Valentín from Lehigh Valley (AAA) and started rookie Scott Kingery at shortstop on Sunday against the Braves.  Valentin was hitting .242 with one home run for Lehigh Valley this season.
