Cliff Lee was eligible to come off the disabled list today, but that isn't happening.

The Phillies hoped to have Lee back after shutting him down for two weeks, but his injury could be more serious.

With those concerns, the Phillies have signed Jason Marquis to a minor league contract.

Marquis, 35, is coming off Tommy John surgery from last July while pitching for the San Diego Padres.

The Phillies are the ninth team Marquis has now pitched for, spending time with: Atlanta, St. Louis, Chicago Cubs, Colorado, Washington, Arizona, Minnesota and the aforementioned Padres.

According to Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly, Marquis will report to Clearwater for extended spring training and could join the rotation soon depending on his recovery.

Marquis is a 4.56 ERA career pitcher with 121-114 record.

With the acquisition of Marquis, it raises concerns on the health of Lee and his elbow discomfort.
