Phillies Add Reliever Lucas Sims Following Alvarado Suspension

With the Philadelphia Phillies in search of some bullpen help in the wake of Jose Alvarado being suspended for 80 games, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the team has signed veteran reliever Lucas Sims, who has plenty of high-leverage experience.

Last year, between Cincinnati and Boston, Sims made 58 appearances, posting a 4.38 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, striking out 49 in 49.1 innings pitched.

The team was reported to have an interest in former Phillies reliever David Robertson even before Alvarado's suspension.

It seems with the way Sims has preformed so far this season it would be far-fetched to see him help the Phillies at the big league level this season, but he does add some more pitching depth at the Triple-A level with Seth Johnson a possible arm to come up and help the team at some point this season.
