The pick is in.  The Phillies, with their eighth selection in the 2017 MLB Draft went for a collegiate outfielder.   While reports had the Phillies interested in first baseman Pavin Smith with their eighth pick, Smith was taken off the board ahead of the Phillies by the Arizona Diamondbacks.  A pick later, the Phillies drafted his teammate at the University of Virginia, Adam Haseley.

The website Minor League Ball says that Haseley has "above-average running speed, a strong throwing arm, and defensive instincts that would work well at any outfield position":

Baseball America saw Haseley going as late as 19th overall; other mock drafts saw Haseley going to the Braves, Athletics, or Diamondbacks, the three teams who pick before the Phillies.  But still on the board at the eighth selection, the Phillies took Haseley.
