Phillies Top Pitching Prospect Andrew Painter Impressive in Arizona Fall League Start
Phillies top pitching prospect Andrew Painter continued to shine in his return from Tommy John surgery, tossing three scoreless innings in an Arizona Fall League outing on Tuesday night.
Painter is returning to the mound after missing the entire 2024 season after he underwent surgery in July of 2023.
He struck out two, giving up no hits, throwing 22 strikes and 39 pitches.
Overall this fall, Painter has impressed in 13 total innings, making five starts with 12 strikeouts touching 99 on the radar gun, and showing four pitches which include a curve, slider, and a new change-up.
Earlier today Phillies team President Dave Dombrowski mentioned Painter has someone who could help the team.
"We have a young pitcher by the name of Andrew Painter who is coming up right behind them (the other pitchers in the Phillies rotation) that's a tremendous talent that will pitch with us sometime this year," Dombrowski stated.
