The Phillies continue the rebuilding process at this years winter meetings in San Diego by trading left-handed reliver Antonio Bastardo to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Joely Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, a 23 year old left-handed starter, posted a 4.84 ERA in 30 games at double-A Altoona. During Arizona Fall league play, he started seven games, posting a 2.38 ERA, with 22 strikeouts and six walks.

Bastardo, 29, who signed with the Phillies in 2007, made his debut with the club in 2009. Primarily used as a relief pitcher, Bastardo posted 3.72 ERA and 324 strikeouts in his six seasons with the Phillies.
