Philadelphia native Jesse Biddle has been traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to reports.

Biddle, 24, is a Philadelphia native and attended Germantown Friends before being selected in the first round of 2010 MLB Draft.

Biddle was designated for assignment by the team last week and the Phillies had 10 days to trade, release or waive him.

The return to Philadelphia is the deal is not yet known.

Biddle is expected to miss the entire 2016 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last October, but the team was still able to complete a deal.

Biddle was never able to reach his first round potential, he has been up-and-down in the minor leagues the last several years.

If Biddle does regain some form after surgery, he could be of use to the Pirates farm system. He has shown the ability to throw in the low-90's and confuse hitters from time to time.

Biddle posted a 3.82 ERA in 133 minor-league games.
