The Scott Kingery era in Philadelphia is officially over.

The team sent Kingery to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for cash considerations, ending his tenure in Philadelphia.

He famously signed a six-year, $24 million contract before he appeared in a big league game just before the 2018 season after a solid Spring Training, hitting .381 with a .415 on-base percentage to earn an Opening Day roster spot.

However, he was never able to reach the expectations that earned him that deal, hitting just .229 with 30 home runs and 25 stolen bases in 325 major league games from 2018 to 22.

Kingery was drafted in the second round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft, now 30, he will have a chance for a change of scenery in LA.

This season, he played 117 games at Triple-A Lehigh Valley hitting .244 with 13 home runs, 47 RBI, and 24 stolen bases for the Iron Pigs.

New Limited Partners to Join Phillies Ownership Group

Phillies Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer John Middleton announced today in a press release that three new investors will be added to the team’s ownership group – Mitchell L. Morgan, Guntram J. Weissenberger Jr. and a third investor who wishes to remain anonymous.

“We are fortunate to have three new investors, all of whom have lifelong, multi-generational ties to the Philadelphia region and its business, academic and charitable communities,” said Middleton. “Their significant investment is a vote of confidence in our baseball operations, and the financial resources they are providing will allow us to pursue our strategic growth opportunities and long-term goals. Additionally, their strong commitment to Philadelphia and their philanthropic leadership perfectly aligns with the Phillies, making them the ideal partners to continue to grow our franchise.”
