Wheeler will finish in the top three in the BBWAA NL Cy Young voting for the second time in his career. He finished second to Milwaukee’s Corbin Burnes at the end of his breakout 2021 campaign in the voting.
The right-hander built off a season where he finished just outside the Top 5 in the Cy Young voting, at No. 6 in 2023. He went 13-5 with a 3.61 ERA in 192 innings pitched in last season.
Wheeler led the NL with a 0.955 WHIP in 2024 and went 16-7 with a 2.57 ERA in 200 innings pitched in 2024. He finished second in wins, ERA, and strikeouts among NL pitchers, all behind Atlanta's Chris Sale who was No. 1 in all those categories.
