The Eagles had to place injured tight end Zach Ertz on the injured reserve today with his injured ankle, and that may prevent them from dealing him before the deadline.

Ertz is slated to miss 4-6 weeks with a high-ankle spring and according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Ertz's the Eagles were open to trading Zach Ertz before he landed on injured reserve..

"Its possible his ankle injury prevented a potential trade with teams," Fowler said on Sportscenter. "I spoke to multiple executives who got indications were willing to part ways with Zach Ertz by the trade deadline."

The two teams negotiated before the season began and could not come to terms on a new deal.  Fowler said there is a bit of bitterness from Ertz, and considering his season has not gone well, his numbers are down and the teams views Dallas Goedert as the tight end of the future.

So with Ertz now on the IR, it makes it much more difficult to move him, if at all.

On the season Ertz has just 19 catches for 139 yards and one score.

the 2013 second-round pick has 544 catches for 5,882, 36 touchdowns and 12 100 yard games in 110 career games.
