Since former Phillies outfielder Matt Stairs moved from the broadcast booth to be the Phillies hitting coach, Comcast SportsNet has been looking to fill Stairs' shoes.  The Phillies reportedly will turn to a popular former player: 1993 first baseman John Kruk.

Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly reported the news:

According to sources, Kruk will join the team’s television broadcast crew on CSNPhilly during the 2017 season. Kruk will replace Matt Stairs on the broadcast crew and join a team that already includes lead broadcaster Tom McCarthy, color men Mike Schmidt and Ben Davis and sideline reporter Gregg Murphy.

This is not Kruk's first stint in the Phililes broadcast booth.

In 2003, Kruk served as a part-time color commentator on Phillies television broadcasts.   Kruk then rose to national prominence on television with a role on ESPN, a post he held for over 12 years.   Like Stairs, it appears that Kruk will work a part-time schedule, one split with Ben Davis and Mike Schmidt.
