Report: Phillies Among Teams at Max Scherzer’s Recent Throwing Session
The Philadelphia Phillies upgraded their starting rotation this offseason, adding left-hander Jesus Luzardo in a trade with the Miami Marlins.
However they night not be done adding pitching.

According to Pat Ragazzo of SI.com, the Phillies were among at least eight MLB teama that attended Scherzer’s pro day in Florida earlier this week at the Cressey Sports Performance.
The three time Cy Young Awaed winner went 2-4 with a 3.95 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and struckout 40 batters across 43.1 innings in nine starts for the Rangers in 2024.
Scherzer dealt with series of injuries with Texas, following his midseason return from offseason back surgery. He dealt with arm fatigue, and a should issue before an hamstring injury finally ended his 2024 season.
Scherzer, who will turn 41 in July, could provide the Phillies more depth in the starting rotation, but it's hard to imagine him coming to a place where there isn't a clear opening, which the Phillies don't seem to have.
One option could be to see if Scherzer would be interested in moving to the back end of the bullpen, something Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz did for three seasons, becoming the Atlanta Braves closer.
Scherzer, who still has good stuff, can transform to a back end arm, he would make sense for the Phillies in that role.
He will most likely end of his career in Cooperstown at the Hall of Fame, but it's hard to see a stop in Philadelphia along the way.
The Phillies report in Clearwater for Spring Training on Feb 11 with pitchers and catchers first workout on Feb 12. Thw full team will report on Feb 17.
