
Report: Phillies Interested in a Giancarlo Stanton Trade
For many years now, Phillies fans have clamored that their team be the team to acquire slugger Giancarlo Stanton from the Marlins. But after signing a 13 year, $325 million contract to remain in Miami and what seemed to be a commitment from ownership to retain Stanton, those talks have pretty much died down. But with Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria reportedly talking to many parties about selling the team, things may change quickly. If so, the Phillies might want in.
In the Boston Globe, baseball writer Nick Cafardo reports that the Phillies are discussing internally possibly going after not just Stanton, but another Marlins star:
