The Phillies are still without a shortstop, but could have their eyes on a veteran player for the 2021 season. .

A possible acquisition for Philadelphia, according to Jon Heyman, is free-agent shortstop Andrelton Simmons. The Phillies are among a few teams that have interest in the Angles free-agent.

Simmons, 31, is a career .269 hitter. He hit .297 with zero home runs and two stolen bases over 30 games before opting out due to COVID concerns.

He has spent the past five season with the Angles and was with the Braves for, four seasons before that.

The Phillies are looking for a shortstop, with Didi Gregorius and Marcus Semien, still on the market.

Currently the Phillies could use veteran Jean Segura or Scott Kingery at shortstop, but seem to be looking for someone to fill the void for one-year before former first-round pick Bryson Stott is ready.
