Will Rob Thomson be back in the Phillies dugout in 2025?

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, that very question is being asked around baseball circles after the Braves cleaned house on Thursday. As Nightengale points out, all eyes in the industry will be on the Phillies and whether to bring back Rob Thomson, or make coaching staff changes this off-season.

The Phillies extended the contract of Thomson through the 2025 season back in December of 2023, along with hitting coach Kevin Long through 2025.

According to the scribe, the organization will have evaluations to determine if Thomson will be back or if they will make changes to the staff.

Thomson has been the manager for all three playoff runs, that have come up short, along with pitching coach Caleb Cotham and hitting coach Kevin Long. He took over for Joe Girardi back in 2022, going 65-46 and making it all the way to the World Series before losing 4-2 to the Astros. They then won 90 games in 2023 before losing in the NLCS to the Diamondbacks. This season they won 95 games but were bounced in the NLDS against the Mets.
