Driving safety is always top of mind when we get into our vehicles to drive each day. We look into the safety ratings of the automobiles before we purchase, take weather conditions into are driving plans, and we check on those we care about to make sure they get home at night.

According to the National Safety Council, there were over 44,450 motor vehicle deaths in the United States in 2023.  The Bader Scott Injury Law Firm gathered all the data from the National Safety Council to find out what are the safetest and most dangerous states to drive in America.

There is a wide gap between states with the most and least vehicular fatalities, which allowed the Bader Sctt Injury Law Firm to create rankings of the states. The rankings are based on the number of Car accident deaths per 100,000 state residents.

How Safe is it to Drive in New Jersey

The results of their research says that New Jersey is the third safest state to drive in America. The Garden State has just 7 automotive deaths per 100,000 residents and had a 19 percent decrease in motor vehicle fatalities from 2022 to 2023.

For comparison, the two Most Dangerous States for Driving are Wyoming and Mississippi, both at 27 vehicular deaths per 100,000 residents. That rate is almost four times higher than New Jersey had in 2023.
