Spring Training is just three weeks away, and the Phillies are putting the finishing touches on their Spring Training staff.  As has been custom with previous coaching staffs, Phillies manager Gabe Kapler will have several high profile former Phillies assisting at Spring Training as guest instructors.  The Phillies named the 2018 list yesterday.

Included on the list are: Bobby Abreu, Larry Bowa, Brad Lidge, Charlie Manuel, Dan Plesac and Mike Schmidt.

Not filling this role this season is Larry Andersen, who stepped back from his broadcasting responsibilities in 2018.  Andersen was a regular contributor in such a role in the past.  Wes Helms also served in a similar role last season, but joined the Lehigh Valley IronPigs staff and will be present in minor league camp.  Chad Durbin also filled such a role last year too but is not on the list.

This is the first time Plesac will fill this role.  Plesac pitched for the Phillies down the stretch in 2002 and in 2003.  Plesac is currently an analyst for MLB Network television.
