The 19th edition of one of South Jersey's most prestigious high school basketball tournaments is in Absecon this weekend.

Holy Spirit High School is the host site of the 97.3 ESPN Girls Shootout, featuring some of the best girls teams in the entire state.

Aside from the Lady Spartans, this year's event features three of the top four teams in the state, and four of the top nine. Three of last year’s six state champions will also be in action on either Saturday or Sunday, and five McDonald’s All-American finalists are also suiting up this weekend.

The South Jersey Sports Report was welcomed inside the gym in Absecon, just before Holy Spirit tipped off the tournament Saturday morning against Cherry Hill East.

Here are some of the interviews from our live broadcast at the 97.3 ESPN-FM Girls Shootout at Holy Spirit High School:

Dennis Smith, Holy Spirit Lady Spartans head basketball coach

Kevin Minnick, Courier-Post sports reporter

Kevin Allen, Atlantic City Vikings junior forward

John O'Kane, Press of Atlantic City sports reporter

David Lewis, Son of the late Dave Lewis & Dave's Day organizer

We’d also like to congratulate the South Jersey Athlete of the Week:

Jordan Robertson

Basketball, Wildwood Catholic

The senior continues to emerge as one of South Jersey’s top talents. He scored 25 points in a victory over two-time defending state champion Paulsboro.
