Southern Wins at Battle by the Bay as Bridgeton’s Fall Shot Falls Short

Southern Regional was coming off a big win over Toms River North on Friday night.  In that game junior forward Peyton Wejnert scored a game-high 33 points and recorded his 1,000th career point.

Bridgeton dropped a tough game in overtime to Middle Twp on Friday night and had to forget about it and make the long drive to Atlantic City for the Battle by the Bay.

The two teams, SOuthern from the Shore Conference and Bridgeton of the Cape Atlantic League, put on a show. The game was up-and-down, back-and-forth action making for an entertaining game that came down to the final show.

Bridgeton had another very good look the previous possession that would have given them a lead but the layup did not go down, Southern would grab the rebound and hit a free throw to give the Rams a three-point lead.
