The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Ottawa Senators in a shootout on the road to snag two points. Kevin Hayes started the scoring in the first and James Van Riemsdyk scored a minute into the second period to take a 2-0 lead. The Senators score three straight goals, two coming 25 seconds apart. Before the second ended, Jake Voracek tied the game thanks to Morgan Frost setting up the goal with great puck protection. To start the third period, JVR scored on a breakaway for his second goal of the night. Tyler Ennis responded with his second of the night to force overtime. The Flyers dominated the entire time, but couldn't score. In the shootout, Brian Elliott stood on his head and Sean Couturier buried the only goal. They didn't play a fantastic game by any means, but Elliott was tremendous and they found a way.
