The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Boston Bruins by a score of 4-1 in their first game of round robin play. Think of it like this: The Flyers are playing for seeding, with an automatic bid into the first round of playoffs, while a "Qualifying Round" is essentially a series you must win to get into the playoffs.

The depth scoring was on display again as Michael Raffl scored a goal and recorded an assist. Sadly, he left the game with a leg injury in the third period and it looked serious. Joel Farabee would most likely be the player to jump in the roster if Raffl is out for a long period of time.

Nate Thompson scored the second goal of the game in the second period to give the Flyers some breathing room. With 1:09 left in the period, the Bruins got a lucky bounce from behind the net to cut the lead in half. Seconds later, Phil Myers comes down the ice off the draw and SNIPES Jaroslav Halak!

Scott Laughton sealed the deal in the third period with a rocket of his own, over the shoulder of Halak. Carter Hart saved 34 of 35 shots. He was dialed in and completely ready to play from puck drop.

Keeping Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, and David Pastrnak off the scoreboard is a huge deal. What a remarkable performance by the defense.
