The Injury Bug Bites The Phillies Again
On Thursday, the Phillies placed Right-Handed Pitcher Spencer Turnbull on the Injured List and reports say he could miss six to eight weeks with a Right Lat strain. With Starter Taijuan Walker already on the IL, the team will be depending on prospect Michael Mercado moving forward.
But Thursday proved to be a more costly day than just the pitching staff depth. Both Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber left the game with injuries with both placed on the Injured List on Friday. Schwarber left Thursday's game with a Groin Injury and Harper sustained a Hamstring Injury on the final play of the game.
The Phillies will continue their four-game series versus the Marlins on Friday night. Cristopher Sanchez gets the ball for the Phillies who will be without Harper, Schwarber, and Realmuto for at least a few more weeks.
Wednesday night, the 2024 NBA draft was held and the Sixers selected Jared McCain from Duke University with the 16th overall pick. McCain only played one season with the Blue Devils and was named to the ACC All-Freshman team averaging 14.3 points a game. With their second-round pick and Number 41 overall, the Sixers selected Big Man Adem Bona from UCLA.
