The old saying of “It's better to love and lost than to never have loved at all” rings true for Philadelphia Sports Fans.  The last five months have been a wild ride with the Phillies, Eagles, and Union all reaching their respective championships and losing.  While getting to the big dance and losing is always a tough pill to swallow, the excitement that we experienced going on the journey to get there was awesome.  "The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" best describes the emotions we felt as fans. Sports continues to be the best reality show going and having the weekly opportunities to talk about it on the radio with you at 97.3 ESPN has been a blessing.

As we come down the stretch of February and we get ready for Winter to turn to Spring, hopefully the Sixers can continue to find ways to win after the NBA All-Star Break.  The Flyers are a roster in need of more talent to compete for a championship and credit for their Head Coach John Tortorella for getting them to be a hockey team with some fight in them!   The Locker Room with Billy Schweim is enthusiastic about the state of Philadelphia Sports!!

On Saturday’s show, Mike Carlin joins me in the studio as we reflect on the Eagles Super Bowl run.  The Sports Book Consigliere Dave Sharapan checks in from Las Vegas with his perspective on the NFL’s biggest day and his thoughts on Major League Baseball’s early betting favorites. In Hour Two, we will hear from former NBA official and current rules analyst for ESPN /ABC TV broadcasts Steve Javie.  We will get Steve’s thoughts on officiating in today’s NBA game. Plus we will talk Sixers, Flyers, and more.

On Sunday’s show, former three-time All-Big Ten Linebacker Brad Quast joins me in the studio as we look back at Super Bowl XVII.  The Sixers find themselves in third place in the Eastern Conference Standings at the NBA All-Star break with a 38-19 record.  We’ll express our thoughts on the Sixers chances of getting to the NBA Finals and match the vibe of what the Eagles and Phillies gave us fans!  Plus we will review the Flyers results against the Rick Tocchet coached Vancouver Canucks.  Also we will hear from Ocean City summer resident TJ Semptimphelter who plays goalie for the Arizona State Sun Devils; he is a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as the best player in college hockey.  The Hobey Baker award is the equivalent to college football’s Heisman Trophy. We need everybody to vote for TJ to win; Go to Hobeybaker.com to vote!!

All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to Noon on 97.3 ESPN Radio.
