Congrats to Southern Regional's Mike Gesicki for taking home last week's 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week award.

We have a new batch of local student-athletes now who have proven themselves on this week.

You can vote for your pick, and hear the winner announced on the South Jersey Sports Report with Tyler Donohue Saturday morning beginning at 9:00.

Logan McHenry, Diving, Atlantic City - The Vikings standout and Ventnor resident topped all large school competitors at the South Jersey Coaches Association Invitational Six-Dive Meet Championship. McHenry overcame nine other divers in the division, as the junior compiled a score of 241.45.

Lauren Holden, Basketball, Lower Cape May - She continued a strong season with a 28-point outburst against Our Lady of Mercy Academy. Holden came up huge in the fourth quarter of a 46-43 victory, scoring 11 points in the final frame.

Billy Ward, Wrestling, Buena - The Chiefs 132-pound standout helped his team secure another CAL victory and put a stranglehold on the National Conference's top spot. Ward, a three-time district and region champ, pinned his Lower Cape May counterpart on the way to a 40-26 Buena win.

Daniel Jefferson, Track & Field, Oakcrest - He served as catalyst for another Falcons state title in high jump competition. Jefferson cleared 6 feet, 4 inches and teamed up with fellow Oakcrest athlete Shane Bush to take top honors at the Group III relay championships. The Falcons entered action as the defending champion, a distinction the program will once again carry into next season.

Yasmeen Nelson, Basketball, ACITLed the Red Hawks to first varsity victory in program history with 23 points against Pleasantville. Paced by Nelson's performance, Atlantic County Institute of Technology, a first-year Cape-Atlantic League United Conference member, earned a 41-38 win.
