Congratulations to Southern Regional's senior golf star, Jackson Fiel for taking home last week's 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week honors.

Meanwhile, here is a new set of local student-athletes who shine on their respective fields, and each is now in the running to take home this week’s Athlete of the Week award.

Louis Abenante, Tennis, St. Augustine - The senior won the Cape-Atlantic League singles title in a hard-fought final match with Ryan Pangilinan of Mainland.

 

Matt Ardente, Baseball, Absegami - The Seton Hall recruit picked up the win against Millville for his 21st career victory, a new school record.

 

Dylan Jinks, Lacrosse, Southern Regional - The Hartford recruit scored his 250th career goal and lifted his total for the season to 54, among the top five in the state, for the unbeaten Rams.

 

Kristi Rohrer, Lacrosse, Ocean City - The senior led the Raiders to a school-record 13 straight wins as one of the area's leading scorers and one of the state's leaders in assists.

 

Kaila Smith, Softball, Millville - The junior got her 100th career hit and set a new school record with 14 career home runs.

 

Terrence Smith, Track and Field, Oakcrest - The junior helped the Falcons stretch their win streak to 41 meets by regularly winning javelin - he has the 3rd best throw in the state this year.
