The Absegami Braves baseball program has a new leader.

The school announced that baseball coach Junior Mejia has stepped down after five seasons and that one of his assistants, Andrew Roesch, will take over the program in 2027.

On behalf of the entire Absegami Baseball family, thank you for your hard work, dedication, leadership, and commitment over these past five years. Most importantly, thank you for leaving Absegami Baseball in a better place than you found it.

The Andrew Roesch Era Begins in 2027

Roesch is a 2015 Absegami graduate and served as an assistant coach on Mejia's staff.

Junior Mejia’s Lasting Legacy at Absegami

Mejia, a well-known name in South Jersey baseball, went 66-46 during his five seasons in Galloway after serving as an assistant at his alma mater, Atlantic City, before that. "It was an honor to lead this program," Mejia posted on social media. "Thank you to the players, families, coaches, and community for five unforgettable years. Go Braves!"

A Proven Track Record of Success

Mejia replaced Mike DeCicco back in 2021, and his teams qualified for the Group 3 playoffs every season with him at the helm.  He had an impressive 13–4 record against District rivals Oakcrest and Cedar Creek, and the Braves had nine players move on to play baseball in college under Mejia's leadership.

Mejia starred as a player at Atlantic City and went on to lead the University of Tampa to an NCAA Division II national championship in 2007.

He has been around baseball in South Jersey pretty much since he moved to Ventnor from the Dominican Republic when he was a young boy.
