The Phillies opening night in South Philly will have a different look and feel than any other opening night.

The Phillies start their abbreviated season hosting the Miami Marlins Friday Night at Citizens Bank Park with Phillies' Ace Aaron Nola taking the mound for what will be a very odd season abruptly halted during spring training due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

It's been a long four months without sports, but the Phillies become the first of the big four Philadelphia sports teams to play a real game, albeit without the fans in the stands.

On Thursday Night, Major League Baseball started its 2020 season with two key matchups: First, the New York Yankees defeated the defending 2019 World Series Champion Washington Nationals 4-1 in a rain shortened game.  The second game featured the Los Angeles Dodgers facing their rivals the San Francisco Giants with former Phillies Skipper Gabe Kapler and his Giants soundly defeated 8-1 at Chavez Ravine.

It felt so good to be able to turn on the TV and watch baseball. Baseball on a hot summer night with hotdogs, apple pie, ice cream...it's a part of Americana that we sorely miss.

The Flyers and Sixers are the next to resume official action at the end of the month and we are as excited for their return as well.

On Saturday’s show, The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, we will talk about Major League Baseball’s return and recap of the Phillies game against the Miami Marlins. The Philadelphia Flyers long time Public Address announcer, Lou Nolan joins us to continue our PUSH for Propp to get Brian Propp into the Hockey Hall of Fame and about his expectations for the NHL’s return to play format.

For our “Legends of Lifeguard” segment, we will speak with Five-Time SJ champion John Kenny of the Atlantic City Beach Patrol.  John dominated the swim competition in the Jerseys’ and is part of an exclusive club.  He will join us as we will relive his accomplishments.

Scott McKay and I will break it all down Saturday morning 10am to 12 noon on 97.3 FM ESPN South Jersey.  The show re-airs on Sundays from 10am to noon.
