What Makes Wentz a Potential NFL MVP Candidate in 2017?
After another high level performance on Monday Night, Carson Wentz has set himself apart as one of the top Quarterbacks in the NFL in 2017. Heading into this past weekend, Bovada Las Vegas had Wentz as the favorite to win NFL MVP. After seven games, Carson Wentz is number one in the NFL with Touchdown Passes (17), fourth in Passer Rating (104.0) and third in Total Offense (1,944 Yards).
Willie McGinest of NBC Sports Radio and NFL Network joined Mike Gill on Tuesday and gave his analysis of the Eagles second year Quarterback
“He’s definitely on track for (MVP), to be in the conversation a little bit later (this year) and I’m sure he’s not even thinking about that. He just wants to concentrate on winning that division and getting into the playoffs, those things come first. I’m excited about what I have seen: his growth, his confidence, the way he moves around in the pocket, his energy. When you have guys talk on your team the way they talk and how excited they are to play with him, how he gives them energy, he’s the spark plug….(Wentz) has that ‘IT’ about him and not all Quarterbacks when you look at them or talk to them or you see them play, they don’t really have that glow, he has it. And his play making ability, his touch on the deep ball has gotten so much better; guys are catching the ball for him this year. You can just tell, his energy is sparking that offense as well as his play.”
