Winner of South Jersey HS Athlete of the Week for March 7, 2022
Each week, 973 ESPN South Jersey and Prime Events are bringing you the chance to vote for the South Jersey High School Athlete of the Week. We want to recognize some of the great student-athletes from around the Cape Atlantic League with several nominees each week. The winner of the last week's voting for the South Jersey Athlete of the Week is Atlantic City High School Swimmer James Haney.
Check out this week's nominees below and see who is the winner of this week's voting:
*Kimmy Casiello, Wildwood Catholic - The Senior scored 27 points, made 7 steals, and had 4 assists to spark the Lady Crusaders to an NJSIAA Tournament win over Calvary Christian. She averages 11 points per game and more than 4 assists per game this season.
*Leah Ellis, Millville High School - This Senior finished second in the NJSIAA Indoor Track Meet of Champions by just one and one-half inches in the long jump. She is also one of the top hurdlers in South Jersey.
*Cole Jennings, St. Augustine Prep - The Junior finished third in the 200 Meter Individual Medley at the NJSIAA Swim Meet of Champions. He also finished fifth in the 100 Meter Breaststroke in the prestigious meet.
*Kaden Naame, St. Augustine Prep - This junior finished third at 113 pounds in the NJSIAA State Wrestling Meet, the best of any Cape-Atlantic League wrestler. He finished the season with a 24-5 record.
*Ja'son Prevard, St. Joseph's Hammonton - The Senior scored 22 points and added 10 rebounds, 4 steals, plus 7 assists in the Wildcats opening-round win over Holy Cross in the NJSIAA Basketball Tournament. He averages 16 points and more than five assists per game this season
*Ava Troiano, Wildwood High School - This Senior scored a career-high 20 points, including six in overtime, to lead the Warriors to a rally from 20 points down to beat Riverside in the extra period and move into the South Jersey Group 1 Final.
