Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler made his first ever Grapefruit league start in Phillies' uniform, since signing a five-year $118 million contract in December.

Wheeler, who came over from the New York Mets, is projected to be the teams No. 2 starter behind Aaron Nola. He allowed two runs, on just one hit, a two-run homer in the second inning, walking one and striking out one over two innings against the Blue Jays.

Next up it will be Ranger Suarez taking the mound against the Baltimore Orioles. Suarez is battling for the Phillies fifth starter role, after pitching out of the bullpen last year.

The battle for the fifth spot in the rotation seems to be between Suarez, Vince Velasquez and Nick Pivetta, who allowed only one run in 2 2/3 innings, striking out five against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Zach Eflin would seem likely to be the teams No. 4 starter behind Nola, Wheeler and Jake Arrieta.
