As Summer Winds Down, Phillies and Eagles Dominate Conversation

The Phillies currently occupy the first Wildcard Spot in the National League standings as they head into a weekend series with the Nationals.  The Phillies broke their three game losing streak on Wednesday night against the Blue Jays and now Mike Lorenzen will face the very same team on Friday Night he threw a No-hitter against over a week ago.  Let's hope Bryce Harper has found his power after smashed two home runs in the game against the Blue Jays on Wednesday Night and he is hitting .302 Batting Average for the month of August.  Plus, the Phillies play the Nationals on Sunday Night Baseball this weekend, a game played in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, which is the home of the Little League World Series!

The Eagles second preseason game ended with a tie against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night.  I attended the game and walk away with some specific impressions of my preseason NFL experience.  We will discuss which Eagles players impressed and who didn’t this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.  In addition, we will have our last beach patrol report of the summer brought to you by McCann Realtors of Sea Isle City and the Ocean City Beach Patrol Lifeguard Alumni Association.  We will review the results and play interviews with some of the winners from The Gowdys Lifeguard Races in Ventnor, the final event of the lifeguard racing season. 

On Saturday’s show, Mainland Regional Alumni and former Kansas City Chiefs Wide Dave Klemic joins me in the studio.  Dave will be with me throughout the football season bringing his insight and expertise on football to the show.  The Sportsbook Consigliere Dave Sharapan returns for another football season, live from Las Vegas, with his unique perspective on betting the big games.  In Hour Two, we will hear from the Head Coach of the Collingswood Football Team Mike McKeown.  Coach McKeown is on the West Jersey Conference Football Committee which organizes next week's Battle at the Beach at Ocean City High School.  Coach McKeown will talk to us about the great high school games scheduled for next week.  Plus our last Beach Patrol report of the season.

On Sunday’s show ,Mike Carlin joins me in the studio.  We will recap the week in Philly Sports.  Every Sunday during the baseball season we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies Pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by the John R. Elliott Hero Campaign for Designated Drivers.  Tommy talks Phillies play in the month of August as we great closer to the postseason.  In Hour Two, we will talk Eagles Football and hear from long-time NFL Defensive Coordinator Paul Guenther.  Paul will give us his impressions on the Eagles so far this preseason.
