Bonesaw Brewery of Glassboro, NJ, Wins Gold Medal at Great American Beer Festival
There is so much competition these days in the craft beer world, with breweries popping up almost every day producing new and exciting beers. This weekend, one South Jersey brewery scored big at the 38th Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado, winning a gold and bronze medal for its beer, the only medals won by a New Jersey beer this year.
What is the Great American Beer Festival
The Great American Beer Festival is an annual event, that awards medals in hundreds of Beer styles.
It's the largest professional beer competition in the country and awarded 326 medals to 276 breweries. The awards ceremony was streamed live from the Bellco Theatre in Denver.
Overall there were 8,836 beers judged from 1,869 breweries & cideries from all across the United States, D.C. and Puerto Rico.

South Jersey Brewery captures a gold and bronze medal
With over 1,800 breweries and cideries, the competition is pretty intense. However, one South Jersey brewery emerged with two medals, and gold and bronze.
Bonesaw Brewery, which has two locations, in Glassboro and at the Deptford Mall, won two medals at this year's event.
The Glassboro location is right off the Rown University campus at 570 Mullica Hill Rd and the Pilot House location is at the Deptford Mall, 1750 Deptford Center Rd Suite 1500.
Which Bonesaw beers won medals
In the Vienna-Style Lager category, which had 123 Entries, the Red Dawn took home the Bronze medal.
Here is how it is described on the Bonesaw website:
A full bodied lager full of malty goodness, with extended cold-conditioning giving it a clean crisp edge.
And in the Belgian-style ale or French-style ale, which had 64 Entries, the Le Petit Demon captured the gold medal.
Here is how it is described on the Bonesaw website:
“The Little Demon” is a deceptively smooth, dry, fruity, and spicy Belgian-style ale brewed with a particular yeast strain that produces signature flavors and aromas of guavas, bananas, roses, and cloves.
I have been to both Bonesaw locations and really like both the beer and atmosphere, with each place offering a different feel to them. I am a big fan of their IPA "Swoosh", but will be trying out these two medal winners during my next visit.
