Brandon Graham’s Stellar Game Overshadowed By Season-Ending Injury For Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles went out to Los Angeles and ended up with an impressive 37-20 win over the Rams, improving to 9-2 on the season. The win gives them a 2.5-game lead over the Washington Commanders, who lost to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
The win for Philadelphia was the seventh straight this season, after starting the year at 2-2.
Saquon Barkley had a game for the ages, rushing for a career-high and Eagles single-game high of 255 rushing yards on 26 carries adding two rushing touchdowns. Overall, he totaled 302 yards from scrimmage, the most by any player in Eagles history and the ninth-most in a game in NFL history.
While most of the news coming out of the game was positive, there was one negative story. Defensive end Brandon Graham announced after the game that his season was over, thanks to a torn triceps.
The injury occurred late in the game, and Grham told reporters after the game that his season was over.
"I got chipped, tore my triceps," Graham told reporters.
Graham, 36, had announced this would be his final NFL season, was having an outstanding game, racking up six QB pressures, two QB hits, two tackles for loss, a sack, and a pass defended.
He was non-committal when asked if he would reconsider his retirement plans after the season. He signed a one-year deal in the offseason, saying he wanted to play for 15 years, with this season being year 15.
"Just trying to process everythign right now," Graham said. I have'nt got that far."
In 11 games this season, Graham has exceeded expectations, making 20 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
"The mission is still the mission," Graham said. We pour everything we can into this game. I'm about to enjoy leading this team the rest of the year. As soon as I can be back out there, I will be back out there."
If Graham has played his final game for the team, he leaves with 76.5 career sacks, third most in franchise history.
