One of the top accomplishments a local high school baseball player can achieve is to be named to the Carpenter Cup team.

Now in its 30th year, the prestigious 16-team, single-elimination tournament sponsored by the Phillies ends with the Semifinals and championship game at Citizens Bank Park on June 22-23 and features 25 of the top players in South Jersey.

The Cape Atlantic League players combine with the Tri-County Conference to form the Tri-Cape squad, featuring the top players from both leagues.

The CAL players include: Nick Droboniku and Kyle Gerace from Mainland; Steve Myers of Atlantic City; Sean Carew of St. Augustine; Josh Arnold of Ocean City; Buddy Kennedy of Millville; Matt Ardente of Absegami; Justin McFadden of Cedar Creek; Chris Sieg of Atlantic Tech;  C.J. LaFragola of St. Joseph; Marco Rios of Buena; and Jim Versage of Middle Township.

Brendan Bean of Wildwood also made the team representing the Tri-County Conference.

Tri-Cape will play its first game of the tournament June 17 against Lehigh Valley at Ashburn Field in Philadelphia's FDR Park.
