Five Youth Baseball Players from New Jersey learn about Banana Ball from the Pros
One of the most popular sports entertainment properties in the United States can be found on a Baseball Diamond. The Savannah Bananas performs a unique style of baseball featuring dancing players and variations of the traditional baseball rules.
Similar to the Harlem Globetrotters, the Savannah Bananas is a family-friendly sports entertainment experience. Even though their home field is Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia, they take the Banana Ball show on the road across the United States each summer.
There was 900 Youth Baseball Players were chosen to travel to Cleveland to learn about Exhibition Baseball from the Savannah Bananas. Five of those young athletes are from Ocean County, New Jersey.
New Jersey Youth Baseball Players Learn From The Savannah Bananas
Members of the Stafford Hitmen Travel Baseball Team got to learn firsthand the rules of Banana Ball. The Youth Baseball Players got to test their skills and some received awards for demonstrating their own ball tricks.
The Savannah Bananas are known for dancing sessions during their games and a team gets a point for winning an inning, instead of accumulating rules over nine innings. If the teams are tied after the final inning, they do not play extra innings. Instead, there is The Showdown, when the Pitcher and Hitter have a "face-off" with only one fielder behind the pitching mound.
