Darius Slay Leaves Eagles For Steelers: What This Means For Eagles CB Room
One of the Philadelphia Eagles’ most important defensive players, cornerback Darius Slay, is hopping to the other side of the state.
Slay is signing a one-year, $10 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers after spending the previous five seasons in Philadelphia.
By releasing Slay, the Eagles will save $4.3 million against the cap. He is the third member of the Eagles' secondary to leave this offseason, with Isaiah ROdgers and C.J. Gardner-Johnson no longer with the team.
The 34-year-old Slay appeared in 14 games for Philadelphia in 2024, making 49 tackles and 13 passes defended.

Slay came over to Philadelphia in a March 2020 trade with Detroit for a 2020 3rd round pick and 2020 5th round pick and instantly became a factor in the Eagles' secondary. Over his five years in Philadelphia, Slay played in 74 games, with nine interceptions and 56 pass breakups.
He made three bowls in five seasons and appeared in two Super Bowls, winning one.
He had said he would like to play one more season, for either the Lions or a return to the Eagles, but he is moving to play for the Steelers.
While Slay moves across the state, the Eagles have a strong core of young cornerbacks remaining on their roster, including Kelee Ringo, Eli RIcks, and Cooper DeJean, who was a key figure as the nickel corner as a rookie. The team could move DeJean to the outside or give Ringo a shot that he is ready to handle a starting spot.
Detroit drafted the 6-foot, 190-pound Slay in 2013 with the No. 36 overall pick in the second round out of Mississippi State. He became one of the top corners in football with the Lions, earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2017.
